Fourth of July Freak Out

On this Independence Day, you can do worse than kick back with a beer, watching a cult or trashy movie (I'd suggest Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill, Harley Davidson and the Malboro Man, or Rolling Thunder) and ordering your copy of Jack Shear's psychotronic, post-apocalyptic Americana rpg setting Planet Motherf*cker. Freakout is optional.

Here's a mix of musical moods to get you in the right frame of mind:

"Psychobilly Freakout" by the Reverend Horton Heat:

"White Lightning" by Charles Bernstein:

"Chase the Devil" The Eagles of Death Metal:

"Comanche" The Revels:

"Too Drunk to..." Nouvelle Vague:

Love the music selection. I might have to do my own soundtrack.

Nice tunes. Haven't heard "Comanche" in forever. A bunch of the others were new to me. "To Drunk..." just cracked me up (can one even be that drunk?). All very cool.

Great lineup, Trey. I love 'Comanche,' but whenever I hear it I keep expecting someone to bring out The Gimp. Happy Independence Day.

Good stuff!

I really need to see Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man again.

Chris: To be sure, Nouvelle Vague's "Too Drunk to Fuck" there is a cover (and an excellent one, taking its own route through the song). The original was by Dead Kennedys, and is a classic of punk rock/hardcore, released in 1981.

I love your music posts Trey. I've bought CDs based on the stuff you post here (Several big band compilation CDs and a Glenn Miller), so I look forward to more.
