It makes me think of a world of giant turkeys or similar, with the humans occupying niches more like rodents, maybe only just reaching the point at which they realise what they can do, and possibly becoming Borrower-like. A nightmare disturbing a holiday afternoon doze, a variant on cavemen and dinosaurs.
