For those very reasons, I wanted to reply... just as proof that it was read and well received. :)

I did have one thought...

I can't help but imagine how much better the overall Kirby mythology would have been if he was able to remain in one place and work on it organically. As opposed to the jumping back and forth between Marvel and DC that he was doing.

I think that some of the best ideas did come out of the bouncing between companies... Evolving the ideas and being able to start with a clean slate. Not to mention the new environment probably inspired some of the better ideas.

Just imagine how much more entertaining, and important, Marvel's Eternals would have been. Incorporating the New Gods ideas that he later came up with. It seems like the sum of the parts would have been that much better, and less time would have been spent re-inventing / re-introducing some of the same ideas.

This thought isn't meant to discount the influence that Starlin had (Thanos, Warlock, etc.) but these always seemed grafted on to the original Eternals idea. Like he was trying to take Kirby's New Gods ideas and provide what he thought Kirby would have evolved the Eternals into.Jason Galterio (Legionair)https://www.blogger.com/profile/09118321482215643221noreply@blogger.com
