Best of luck Trey, may the millions flood in!
I have a question or two about some Strange Stars OSR mechanics. Where'd be the best place to ask them?
Thanks, Fran!
Tanner, you can ask them here or email me privately if they are lengthy.
Ok cool. It's three things
The first is for stuff in Transhuman Tech. If you are buying stuff in Strange Stars, how would the Status Cost for hulls and such convert to credits?
Secondly, for character creation, the clades do not represent all the races, correct? Like baseline humans, or would all baseline humans fall under certain clades (like Runelings, Phantasists, etc.)?
Finally, how do infosophont PCs work when they aren't in a body?
As a rule of thumb, I would say hull/hull augment would cost at least 50 times the status cost in credits. However, that would vary some from locale to locale and the sort of game you want to run.
Correct, it's not even all of the clades mentioned in the setting book, much less all the clades in the galaxy. Most baseline humans would tend to have a culture or clade, but things like Runelings and Phantasists or the Instrumentality are but a few of the examples. A standard SWN character might be a typical human of the Circus or any number of habitats.
Without a body, they would be bound to the noosphere. They could use computer related skills and things they could do via public sensors, but their interaction would be limited. A "nondownloaded" infosophont is probably better as an NPC than PC, because their really an extreme case of the "hacker problem" in cyberpunk games, but it could be done.
