Synopsis: Endeavour is surveying the 13th moon o Parjali II as a potential cite for an outpost when they discover a humanoid life sign that shouldn't be there. Investigating, they find a robed figure who appears to be a Rhaandarite and a small hut. The being declares himsef Uzaveh, once worshipped as a god by the primitive Rhaandarites, whose evolution he takes credit for. He offers to further "improve" the Endeavour's crew. Locke and his senior officers are suspicious. Locke particularly recalls what led to the Eugenics Wars, but Perez and Nesmith take Uzaveh up on his offer, and Perez is given superhuman strength, while Nesmith is freed from the need to take medication for a genetic condition.
But the crew is unable to contact their ship and they believe Uzaveh is responsible. Eventually, they confront him, and he reveals his true purpose: he needs to evolve them to transfer his consciousness to a suitable body, and he is wearing out the Rhaandarite he is in. A battle ensues with the enhanced crew under Uzaveh's control. A phaser blast eventually disrupts his energies, causing his body to rapidly decay. The crew who were controlled were freed, and their biologies gradually return to normal.

Commentary: This was a mission brief from Mission Briefs 1: Growing Pains, by Michael Dismuke. It was set during the Enterprise era, but easy enough to adapt to a later one. In the original, Uzaveh had an Andorian body.
Jim joined this game for the first time playing Lt. Gordon:

Sounds like it would have made a solid TOS episode script with a little work and a few guest actors to take the "improvements" and then come to regret it as the truth comes out. Perhaps in the end one could volunteer to play host and invite Uzaveh to possess them as a deliberate ploy to make the entity vulnerable during the transference, resulting in the making a tragic but heroic sacrifice as they (and the previous host) are disintegrated in the process of disrupting Uzaveh. That seems about right for Kirk, Spock, and McCoy to get philosophical about.
I like the species writeup at the link. A humanoid species that takes 200 years to reach physical maturity but is mentally/emotionally developed enough to serve in Starfleet at a "mere" 85 is an interesting twist. Be a lot easier to do an adult Rhandaarite these days, using CGI to embiggen an actor to eight or nine feet tall. Good opportunity to make jokes about Starfleet's propensity for "low" ceilings on their ships.
Wonder how slow your reproductive cycle would need to be if you take that long to reach breeding age? That's an awfully long time to start passing along your genes even on a "safe" planet. Maybe the don't need to be full adults before they're fertile. More room for humor in having adults complain about all the horny hundred year olds they joined Starfleet to get away from.
Sounds like a good adventure, and sparked an idea for an episode in my campaign set in my version of the Shackleton Expanse!
I had never noticed the Rhaandarites before either!
