Certainly does seem like it would have been FASA's cup of tea. I was always vaguely surprised they didn't do RPGs for Battlestar Galactica or even Last Starfighter.
You ever read the novels (plural) the movie and show were based on? They really don't resemble the film version much, but I'm not sure which setting I'd call better for a campy scifi RPG.
Project Oasis, while a Mutant Future/Gamma World campaign setting instead of a game, nicely incorporates Logan's Run into it's overall 70s/80s post apocalypse themes, along with Mad Max, Planet of the Apes, and a dozen others...
I have actually put notes together to make it for a time. Never seen the series or books, though, just was fascinated by that movie. Part of its charm, though, is how open is the ouside world to interpretation.
The game could be about re-conquering a wild, decayed world or go into space travel, while also considering throwing other old movies into the mix (barbarella, planet of the apes, tryphids, etc)
"The feel when wou will never reclaim a ripe virgin earth with a hot young girl and a hot laser gun by your side"

I remember a Logan's Run PBM RPG being advertised back in the magazines.

In a not-so-serious vein, I could totally see the Logan's Run world being used in a Paranoia game.
ReplyDelete@Croaker But the Sandmen are clearly Infrared peons! :)
