No Really, It's a Holiday!

As a state employee, I've got a holiday today for Confederate Memorial Day--not to be confused, of course, with regular Memorial Day.

So, in the spirit of the day, here are some former Confederate soldiers of note:

John Carter, Warlord of Mars

Jonah Hex, disfigured bounty-hunter

Ghost of J.E.B. Stuart, haunter of tanks

Weird. I'm surprised we don't have the same holiday up here in Virginia. Or maybe we do and I'm just clueless.

UPDATE: Looks like we do have it. It's just on the same day as regular Memorial Day.

Nice post.

The thought of a 'haunted tank' is so... Rod Serling.

Awesome.

@Risus - It's not like it's a big thing in SC. Most of my friends here who don't work for the state can't believe we get it off.

@scottsz - If the haunted tank appeals to you, you oughta check out the DC Showcase Presents featuring the Haunted Tank stories from G.I. Combat in the 60s.

@P.S. - Thanks!

Some great characters.
What part of Dixie are you in?

I currently live in South Carolina, and have for about 7 years (broken in the middle by 3 years in Colorado). I'm from Georgia originally.
